Position Overview
The Sr. Technical Analyst works directly with business users to provide day-to-day operational support for application software, as well as, to identify new opportunities to optimize business processes through innovative IT solutions.
The ideal candidate should have 10+ years’ experience and should have excellent communication skills with both technical and business professionals. The individual should be technically sound, a problem solver, with a strong understanding of Upstream Oil & Gas operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary support for Upstream Technical Applications
- Deliver integrated business systems support to users (internal and external to IT), applying an expert understanding of business issues and the impact of technology
- Triage reported production events including making decisions on what action to take
- Escalate production events by interfacing with senior management
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution for complex problems
- Conduct training for both new and existing procedures, processes, and applications
- Onboarding and offboarding tasks for Upstream users in various applications (account set up and permissions)
- Create and implement efficient workflows within and between upstream applications
- Ensure data integrity and implement QC processes
- Troubleshoot software and data issues potentially involving SQL databases and APIs
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies
- Identify risks and issues, and help document and construct risk mitigation strategies
- Advocate the initiation of projects, when necessary, to achieve business and IT objectives
- Prepare business case and solution proposals outlining estimates and realistic cost-effective design alternatives
- Lead change control and scope management efforts
- Lead test planning and all test cycles using proven testing techniques.
- Execute and manage moderate functional testing efforts.
- Work with Business Users to conduct acceptance testing activities.
- Work in a fast paced, high-energy environment that requires constant attention and decision making.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Petroleum Engineering or related field is required.
Qualifications
- Strong data analysis and communication skills
- Systems support management experience in an Oil and Gas environment demonstrating a proven project and process management skill set
- Experience supporting one or more of the following applications:
- IHS Kingdom
- PHDWin
- ARIES
- ESRI (ArcGIS)
- Quorum WellEz, Quorum Land, Quorum Execute (formerly Aucerna AFE Navigator), Quorum EnergyIQ
- P2 Merrick ProCount
- ERP system for Upstream
- Spotfire
- Microsoft Products (Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Excel, SQL Server)
- Experience with Cloud environments and SaaS a plus.
- Maintain a positive, can-do attitude in a fast moving, highly motivated startup
Travel
Limited domestic travel may be required to support some business activities.
Working Conditions
This job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
