Position Overview

The Regulatory Affairs Director monitors and advises Tellurian management and operating units on federal and state regulatory requirements for new or modified natural gas projects, as well as regulatory requirements to maintain Tellurian’s license to operate. 

The Regulatory Affairs Director will direct Tellurian’s development of internal regulatory processes by monitoring regulatory requirements and assuring the organization's operations remain in compliance with government regulations. This individual also works with regulatory and other government agencies to address concerns regarding the business of Tellurian.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Regulatory Affairs Director is charged with performing a wide array of tasks. 

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform as Company subject matter expert in federal and state regulatory requirements, emphasis on the Natural Gas Act (18 CFR  380) and Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act (49 CFR 193).
  • Advise Company on regulatory process and regulatory strategy.
  • Assist with development of Company regulatory standards for compliance and assurance
  • Develop Regulatory audit/assurance program for Company operations
  • Lead internal compliance reviews and audits
  • Collaborate with HSSE Department and business operations to prepare compliance and project budgets for corporate and operating assets
  • Assist in establishing a Regulatory Document Control Management System and structure
  • Oversee FERC, PHMSA and DOE compliance requirements
  • Communicate and advise internal stakeholders
  • Track and monitor changes to federal regulatory requirements
  • Communicate and train Company operations on changes to regulatory compliance requirements that may affect our license to operate
  • Be solutions oriented to new and changing regulatory environment
  • Develop and manage Regulatory staff, and conduct and participate in performance management reviews

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Process, Petroleum or Environmental Engineering or Regulatory field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, and State requirements for LNG Terminals and natural gas pipelines regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation, and Department of Energy
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
